The Chiu Residence Narrowly Avoids Disaster

Yesterday, I returned home to find the home smelling of an odd acrid burnt-chemical-plastic odor. Turns out that a resident of the Chiu house (who shall remain nameless, but let's just say she's the youngest member of the house) had forgotten to turn off the stove earlier in the afternoon and left the house.

When someone came home a few hours later, the kitchen and living room were practically filled with smoke, and I would imagine all of the dogs were wondering what the heck was going on. Luckily there was no significant damage, other than a ruined pot and me losing my faith in the cooking abilities of a certain someone.
