Top 5 Body Lotions

The best body lotion in the world.

Sure, this post sounds really...um...gay. But I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality to admit that I am VERY picky about the type of body lotion I use after showering. So here we go, my list of top 5 body lotions:

1. Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion (Fragrance Free) - the best consistency/viscosity and moisturizing ability. No greasy feeling. Most lotions, 10 minutes after application, will leave my skin feeling either greasy or sticky. But not this one! After applying this, my skin feels as smooth as a baby's butt. I prefer it unscented so I won't smell like a girl. Unfortunately it is on the pricey side.
2. Walmart/Equate Daily Moisture Lotion (Fragrance Free) - a fairly decent rip-off of Lubriderm's DML. Basically the same properties as Lubriderm's but costs half as much. Best bang for the buck.
3. Aveda "all sensitive" Moisturizing Lotion - I've only used sample bottles that I took from a hotel in a recent trip to Washington DC and NYC. Overall a good texture and viscosity. Slightly on the sticky side but good moisturizing ability. The scent is somewhat of a blend between mint and some sort of grassy odor, but not overpowering and not too girly. I think I smell like a rainforest after application. I'm sure this one is expensive.
4. Gap "Juicy Pear" Body Lotion - With this one, I smell so girly I end up being attracted to my own skin. Seriously. I feel like eating my arm after I apply this one. Decent texture - it applies almost as good as Aveda and Lubriderm with no sticky or watery feel. A little weak on the moisturizing ability, though.
5. Keri Original Moisture Therapy Lotion - The texture is very watery for this one...and after application it feels too sticky. What's worse is after 15 minutes, my skin feels dry and flaky again. The scent is a little girly, but not unbearable. This one ranks #5 because it is the best of the mediocre lotions I've tried in the past.

What about deodarants?

Hmmm... I've always been averse to lotions, but since I swim frequently now I need to otherwise my skins really gets too dried out.

So, I grabbed what Angela uses - Nivea. To my surprise it was pretty decent. However, she said I smelled too much like her, so she got me some Vaseline Intensive Care lotion. Overall though, I found that the key to good lotion was actually application right after towelling off so that the lotion locks in the moisture rather than applying when the skin is dry. Hrmmm.... speaking about sounding gay ;)

Dude, I don't think I've tried 5 lotions my whole life. I did use my mom's oil of olay for a while because I had problems with ingrown hairs, but it didn't help too much. I got two tubs of some yellowish lotion that costco had coupons for, that's about the extent of my lotion experience. Did you buy all the lotions at once, or do you just remember them over time? Do you stick to only one brand now? How expensive is expensive?

Lemon,

Just like hamburgers, not all lotions are created equal. I would burn/donate the costco stuff unless I knew it was what I preferred to use.

My experience has been carefully and meticulously gathered over 30 years of using various types of lotions - initially what my mom used then in college I had to buy my own. On occasion nowadays I steal from my wife.

Oil of olay is very good facial lotion, though. But I have not tried enough variety of facial lotions to make a Top 5 list of those.

As for cost comparison, for an average bottle (roughly 500 mL?) Lubriderm runs around $6, with Equate around $3. A same size bottle of Aveda is close to $12.
