Weekend Movie Review

RE:A - surprisingly good

This weekend we watched 3 DVDs, 2 of which I had high expectations for, and 1 which I had low expectations. Oddly, after watching all 3 it turned out that the movie I had expected to dislike, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, was quite good. The two which disappointed me were My Dog Skip and Lost in Translation.

Photoshop Phun

Okay, so here's this picture of this girl "skanking", which may look weird but is a fairly common form of dancing seen at punk/ska concerts. Anyhoo, some people, obviously with a lot of free time on their hands, photoshopped this picture into other very funny pictures. See for yourself:

I kept laughing at the skiing one.

Acura LA Bike Tour 1/5

The 6:00AM start at USC.

It was fairly crowded as you can tell from this picture - up to 15,000 riders. At this point, everyone was walking their bikes. I started the race armed with my Camelback (generously provided by Timothy Hsu-Kwan as a groomsman gift), a bottle of Gatorade, and 3 "Carb-BOOM" energy gels.

Acura LA Bike Tour 2/5

About 30 minutes into the ride along Exposition Blvd.

Acura LA Bike Tour 3/5

Near the Fairfax district. It's around 7:30am.

Acura LA Bike Tour 4/5

Riding through K-town around 7:45am.

This picture was taken shortly before I nearly crashed into an old Korean woman crossing the street. I don't know why she did it, or what her reason was, but apparently it was important enough for her to risk her life. If I had crashed into her, it wouldn't have been pretty.

Acura LA Bike Tour 5/5

The end of the ride at USC at 8am. I R the winner!!!

After 2 hours, we stream into USC. Overall, it was a fairly easy ride, but enough to give me a good workout for the day.

Bodily damage:
Minor soreness - right achilles tendon, buttocks
Significant soreness - the outer side of my left knee, possibly my ACL or some other type of ligament/tendon

I'm need to figure out why my knee gets sore as it seems to flare up when jogging as well. Maybe it's because I tend to be cheap when it comes to buying sporting equipment - $40 shoes, $150 bike. I have the feeling that biking is a sport I'd like to take more seriously, so I'm going to need to evaluate upgrading my biking equipment. My next major ride is the Long Beach marathon ride in October 2005. Hope to see some of you there!
