World Baseball Classic

I don't consider myself a baseball fan, but last night's World Baseball Classic game of Mexico vs South Korea was very entertaining to watch. Chan Ho Park pitched a great 9th inning to win the game in a packed Anaheim stadium. Naturally, most of the crowd was pro-Mexico, which made the drama much more intense.

There's a conspiracy theory floating around that the United States is receiving favorable treatment in this tournament. For example, the U.S. team is pooled with mostly Asian and European teams, while the other pool (considered more difficult) is of Latin American teams. Wouldn't it make sense, since the U.S. is in the western hemisphere, to place them in the same pool as the Latin American countries? Conspiracy or not, South Korea has been the surprise team of the tournament and play the U.S. team tonight.

Project Runway Finale

Tim Gunn and Andrae at Red Lobster. Andrae = effeminate = very funny.

Am I the only straight man that watches Project Runway? The season finale was last night and the competition was won by Chloe. The quality of her dresses were probably the best, but they tended to look the same to me (open back, strapless, etc etc). I felt Daniel V had the most variety and best style overall. Santino unfortunately played it too safe and didn't do his usual way-out-there designs and I think his conservative approach made him the least popular with the judges.

Big West Basketball Tournament

The Big West basketball tournament will begin on Wednesday, and UCR, UCI, and Cal State Long Beach all have spots. UCI is the #2 seeded team, with UCR and CSULB as #8 and #3 respectively. The winner of the tournament will go on to the Big Dance, with the #2 team likely going to the NIT.

Despite being a proud alumni of UCR, I'm expecting them to get creamed in the first round by UCSB. Historically, UCI always chokes when a big game is on the line. CSULB has a great offensive game and probably the best chance of beating out #1 seeded Pacific.

Grouphug.us

Sometimes when I'm bored I'll head over to www.grouphug.us. It's one of those "confession" sites where random anonymous people post their confessions. Most of the posters sound like teenagers or college kids.

Here's an interesting one:

"I was really drunk one weekend and unknowingly peed in one of my roommate's drawers."

Happy Oblivion, in case you're wondering, no I didn't post that one.
