Top 5 Body Lotions

The best body lotion in the world.

Sure, this post sounds really...um...gay. But I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality to admit that I am VERY picky about the type of body lotion I use after showering. So here we go, my list of top 5 body lotions:

1. Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion (Fragrance Free) - the best consistency/viscosity and moisturizing ability. No greasy feeling. Most lotions, 10 minutes after application, will leave my skin feeling either greasy or sticky. But not this one! After applying this, my skin feels as smooth as a baby's butt. I prefer it unscented so I won't smell like a girl. Unfortunately it is on the pricey side.
2. Walmart/Equate Daily Moisture Lotion (Fragrance Free) - a fairly decent rip-off of Lubriderm's DML. Basically the same properties as Lubriderm's but costs half as much. Best bang for the buck.
3. Aveda "all sensitive" Moisturizing Lotion - I've only used sample bottles that I took from a hotel in a recent trip to Washington DC and NYC. Overall a good texture and viscosity. Slightly on the sticky side but good moisturizing ability. The scent is somewhat of a blend between mint and some sort of grassy odor, but not overpowering and not too girly. I think I smell like a rainforest after application. I'm sure this one is expensive.
4. Gap "Juicy Pear" Body Lotion - With this one, I smell so girly I end up being attracted to my own skin. Seriously. I feel like eating my arm after I apply this one. Decent texture - it applies almost as good as Aveda and Lubriderm with no sticky or watery feel. A little weak on the moisturizing ability, though.
5. Keri Original Moisture Therapy Lotion - The texture is very watery for this one...and after application it feels too sticky. What's worse is after 15 minutes, my skin feels dry and flaky again. The scent is a little girly, but not unbearable. This one ranks #5 because it is the best of the mediocre lotions I've tried in the past.

The Chronicles of Logan 6

Introducing Lennox

Logan's new family has given him a new name, Lennox. I'm guessing it comes from Lennox Lewis, who is, ironically, a BOXER! So far, it looks like his new parents love him and he's slowly adapting to his new environment. Like most of West LA, their apartment complex is very dog friendly and I have no doubt Lennox will soon be making a lot of new friends.

Any future updates will, of course, now be known as "The Chronicles of Lennox".

Old School

Just like the movie, I am a 30-something returning to college. Not to start my own fraternity and/or drink until my liver blows up, but to pursue a masters degree in mechanical engineering. For this first semester I will be taking two upper-division undergraduate courses. My plan is to get this done in about 2 years.

Today was the first day of class. It felt a little strange knowing that most of the students weren't even alive to witness on TV the first space shuttle launch in 1981 (trust me, it was awesome), or to be amazed when Tron first hit the theaters in 1982. In a way, I feel sorry for them. Going through junior high and high school in the 90's must have been BORING.

The Chronicles of Logan 5

Bye Logan!

This morning, Kim and I accompanied Logan to his new family in West LA. Although Logan was here for only 2 weeks and never fully settled in, his departure leaves quite a large void. Our home seems a bit more empty without him.

Good Websites

SimCity Classic

In addition to the blogs listed on the right, there are only about 10 websites I go to on a regular basis. Here are 3 of them. Hopefully you will get as much enjoyment out of them as I do.

LA Weekly
A Los Angeles-based newspaper that is insightful and unabashedly liberal. Good stuff.

Abandonia
This site features "old" computer games for downloading. Most are so old that the publishers don't care for them anymore. I, however, now get to enjoy some games that I was too poor or too cheap to buy in high school.

PetEducation.com
Info on maintaining your four-legged pooping machine.

Extremist?

I would prefer to keep "I dunno" easy-going and upbeat, but after reading an article about President Bush's inaugural celebrations and the response from Nancy Pelosi, I'm fired up and HAD to say something.

Quote from Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader: "Personally, I don't feel much like celebrating. So I'm going to mark the occasion by pledging to do everything in my power to fight the extremist Republican's destructive agenda."

Listen kids, there is NO EXTREMIST RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY TAKING OVER AMERICA. President Bush won the 2004 election fair and square. You may disagree with his policies and beliefs (I voted for him, but I don't agree with everything he does), but if President Bush wins both the electoral vote and the popular vote, then by definition he is NOT EXTREMIST. Instead of an "extremist Republican's destructive agenda", it should be more accurately called a "populist conversative platform supported by a majority of Americans."

One-line review: A decent WWII realtime strategy game I found in the bargain bin at Fry's

PS/2: nothing
One-line review: Haven't touched my PS/2 in several months

The Chronicles of Logan 4

Bad Logan!

Yesterday, while Kim and I were at work, Logan escaped from the kitchen into the living room and was not a very good boy. He jumped over a 4 ft. baby gate which separates the kitchen from the living room. During his several hour romp, he managed to destroy a pair of Kim's favorite shoes and also left a brown "present" for us. We can't trust him anymore to be left untethered while we are at work.

Being with Logan for two weeks, it's apparent to me that Logan was separated from his litter too soon. During the first month or two after birth, a pup in a litter typically learns discipline (from the pup's mother), how to share with other litter-mates, and understands what it means to be corrected. Pups which are separated too soon from their litters will often be unsocialized and more difficult to discipline. Logan was probably from some careless breeder only cared about making a quick dollar. Idiot. Listen kids, if you are considering getting dog (or cat), don't buy a dog from a breeder who does not seem to take socialization of the pups seriously.

Movie News

0n my Netflix queue...

Our household is currently on a 2 month gift subscription to Netflix, and so far we are enjoying the movies and selection available. My current queue consists of 3 sci-fi movies from the 80's: Tron, Blade Runner, and Aliens. Can't wait.

In addition, we just recently watched I, Robot starring Will Smith. It's quite entertaining. Not as bad as some critics say.

The Chronicles of Logan 3

Logan enjoying his new toy.

Two weeks have passed since we picked up Logan, and no contact from the original owners. The good news is that two days ago, we posted Logan to several animal rescue websites and have 2 prospective families who want to adopt Logan. One couple visited today and the adoption looks promising. We should be finalizing the adoption by the end of this week and Logan will be off to his new home!

Overall, Logan has adjusted well to our home, despite his puppy rambunctiousness. As you can see from the picture above, Logan likes playing with Scruffy. Unfortunately Scruffy doesn't agree.

The Chronicles of Logan 2

Logan has now been at our house for about 2 days, but we have not been able to post the "Found Dogs" around the neighborhood due to the rainy weather. I am planning to take Logan into our vet to check to see if he is microchipped which possibly can help trace him to his previous family.

Otherwise, he is acting like any 3-year old boy would; rambunctious, rebellious, playful, sweet, and quite emotional.

The Chronicles of Logan 1

Just an hour ago, we picked up a stray dog near our home. Although quite underweight and stinky, he was friendly towards us...so we decided to take him home and hopefully reunite him with his owners. Until we find out his real name, we have temporarily named him "Logan".

We have printed out "Found Dog" flyers and will soon be posting them around the neighborhood and at our vet's office. Kim bathed him and I gave him a round of vaccinations just in case. Unfortunately, with him being so underweight and without a collar or tags, it is my suspicion that he was abandoned by his owners. We will keep you updated on Logan's progress.
