Project Runway

Since last season, I've been a fan of Bravo channel's Project Runway. The jist is a bunch of amateur/semi-pro fashion designers undergoing a series of challenges to win some sort of cool clothes designing job, kinda like the Apprentice but fashion centered. March 1st is the season finale.

Effeminate men = very funny.

Baby News

We just found out yesterday that our baby will be a girl!

Hurrah!

Celebrity Sighting

Yesterday after the gynocologist visit, Kim, my mom, and I were eating lunch at a vegetarian Chinese restaurant on Valley Blvd. Kim then informed me that two tables over was none other than the most cool and famous of all the Chinese people: WILLIAM HUNG! I wanted to walk over and sneak a picture with my cell phone, but chickened out.

Gurl Talk

I found this link (The Menstrual Hut - The Michigan Womyn's Music Festival Discussion Forum) from another blog that I frequent. It contains very interesting writings and posts from what appears to be feminists talking about their menstrual cycle.

A quote from MasterAmazon:
"Nods to all the womyn who bleed the sacred moonblood, this is what ties us together as females, back to the first human female who had the first menstrual cycle. This IS our womonpower, and what males fear!

Power to all the womyn who bleed the sacred blood! Power to our Sacred Moonblood Wisdom!

Yes, I anointed my drum for equinox, and played it at an equinox ritual! Here's to Spring, and to our Sacred Space in the hut!"

That's some weird stuff.

Weekend DVD Review

Enemy at the Gates (2001) stars Jude Law, Ed Harris, Rachel Weisz, and Bob Hoskins. It's a World War 2 movie focusing on Russia vs. Germany, which is a side of the war not covered much in Hollywood movies. The focus is on the city of Stalingrad, which historically was the site where the Russian army turned back the advancing German army. What makes this part of the story so interesting is how the Russian officers and army leaders treated their average soldier (not very good), which was accurately portrayed in the movie. What brought down the movie is the rather one dimensional characters of Jude Law (a Russian sniper dude who has an English accent) and Ed Harris (a German sniper dude who talks like an American). Even the pleasant-looking Rachel Weisz didn't have much depth. What essentially saves the movie is the opening scenes where the Russian soldiers defend Stalingrad. Overall, a 3.5 out of 5 stars. 2 stars knocked off for below average character depth, but I added a 1/2 star because I keep wanting to say "Enema at the Gates".
