Classic T.V. Themes

I ran across this website that has themes from "classic" T.V. shows from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Very nostalgic.

My favorite themes so far are the A-Team, AirWolf, and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Star Wars 4,5, and 6 Review

I received the Star Wars boxed set for my birthday 2 months ago, and just finished watching all three. It was the first time I have watched them in at least 10 years. For some odd reason, and perhaps it is the cynic in me, I found these 3 movies a bit of a letdown.

Overall, it is still a great story, but honestly, I found the ewoks, C3PO's whining, and to a certain extent Chewbacca's groaning a bit annoying. For example, during the battle of Endor, how could an entire garrison of heavily armed and well-trained stormtroopers be taken over by a bunch of teddy bears??? And the ewoks weren't even using lasers! They were using logs, ropes, and rocks! Give me a break.

The space battle scenes still look awesome, though. Before, I did not like Lando Calrissian much, but seeing it again I thought he was cool. And I finally caught the name of that guy that flew the X-Wing accompanying Lando into the Death Star. His name is Wedge. He's cool too.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, I give the trilogy an 8.5 out of 10. I knocked off one whole point for the annoying ewoks, and another point for the less annoying duo of C3PO and Chewie. I did, however, award a 1/2 point for the better slightly-modified ending to the "Return of the Jedi".

Top 5 Motown Songs

"Top 5" music lists are always tough for me to put together, since my tastes are so varied and there's just so much good stuff out there. But after sitting for 1.5 hours in traffic listening to nothing but the oldies stations, I decided to list my top 5 favorite motown songs:

1. "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey Robinson*
2. "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5
3.
"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell
4. "Ooo Baby Baby" by The Miracles
5. "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes

*I first heard "Tears of a Clown" as a remake by the English Beat, played quite a lot back in the 80's on KROQ. I thought it was quite good until I heard the original on K-EARTH. Way more better.

Top 5 French Fries

My list of the best french/freedom fries evar

1. Del Taco
2. In-N-Out*
3. McDonald's
4. Weinerschnitzel
5. Jack In The Box

* In-N-Out wins a special award for most consistency. All the fries listed above suffer from the occasional bad batch (i.e. fries sit around and get soggy), but In-N-Out delivers.

Top 5 PC Games

Here's my list of the Top 5 PC Games evar

1. X-Com: UFO Enemy Unknown
2. Roller Coaster Tycoon
3. Civilization 2
4. Close Combat 2
5. Age of Empires 2

I typically favor strategy over action, although I do enjoy some first-person shooters. Secondly, none of these games require high-end graphics and processors to play.

Bush vs. Kerry

A bit irrelevant now that the elections are over - but I still laugh at this picture. The football in Kerry's picture was probably photoshopped, but it's still darn funny.

Captain James T. Kirk and the Tribbles.

President Bush and the Tribbles

I'm a big fan of President Bush. He's a one of the common folk. Here he is trying to win over the much coveted Tribble vote.

Age of Mythology

Let me start off by saying that I have NEVER taken a liking to anything that deals with magic, spells, mythology, dragons, fantasy-realm, etc etc. I think movies and books like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are okay, but not spectacular. Frankly, I don't see why the all-powerful-wise-and-old-good-guy-wizard (they exist in ALL of these types of movies) just cast a spell that rids the world of evil so we don't have to sit and watch some kid "discover" himself so he can save the world. Why doesn't the wizard just cast a huge fireball spell and wipe out the evil army instead of having a big sword battle where some of the good guys get killed?

But I digress. I started playing Age of Mythology (AoM) this week and it totally rocks. It reminds me of this old cheesy 80's movie "Clash of the Titans" but with good fighting. It's neat to see a giant cyclops creature grab a human warrior and fling him into a grove of trees. Awesome. Age of Empires is a great game and this one ranks up there with it. If you like real-time-strategy games, this one is one of the best. Thanks to Tim and Angela for getting me this game and I officially blame them for me staying up until 1am playing it.

Shawshank Redemption
A Bug's Life
Zoolander
My Best Friend's Wedding
